Jojoba Oil for Skin

what is jojoba oil

Jojoba oil is extracted from the jojoba plant, which is found in Northwestern Mexico and some parts of Arizona and California. Jojoba oil is actually in the form of liquefied wax and is golden in color. The oil does not have any specific odor.

The product has no chemical ingredients and therefore, turns out to be a perfect moisturizer for oily skin.

Jojoba offers great amounts of moisture to the skin. The Vitamin E present in the product works towards revitalizing the melanin in the skin. This prevents the formation of wrinkles. Additionally, it is responsible for reducing skin irritation. Natural ingredients present in the oil have some antimicrobial properties that prevent the growth of bacteria on the skin.

The oil prevents the production of excess oil in the skin thereby making the skin smooth and healthy. The oil works in a very simple way. When applied on the skin, the oil actually resembles the natural oil present on our skin. As a result, the skin produces less oil.

Jojoba oil is also very beneficial for the treatment of acne, as it has great antibacterial properties. Apart from vitamin E, jojoba oil is also rich in vitamin B and minerals like copper, zinc, chromium, silicon and iodine. Iodine plays a key role in fighting against fungus and bacteria present on the surface of skin.

Where to Buy Jojoba Oil

Jojoba oil is a common essential oil that you should have no problem finding at your local health food store. If you can’t find it anywhere, I’d recommend buying either the Desert Essence or Now Foods brand of Jojoba oil online.

How To Use Jojoba Oil for Skin

1. First, wash your face with lukewarm water followed by cold water. Gently wipe your face with a clean towel.

2. If possible, put on a headband to prevent your hairline from getting greasy. Pour around three to six drops of jojoba oil on the pads of your fingers. Keep in mind that the number of drops completely depends on the amount of dryness or irritation that your skin has. It’s best to experiment and see how many drops works best for you because applying too much might result in excess shine.

3. Now gently rub together the pads of your fingers. In a circular motion, start massaging your face slightly with your fingers, so that the oil spreads equally all over the face. Carry on with the massaging process for at least two minutes, letting the skin absorb the oil.

4. Gently wipe away the excess oil on the face by using a tissue.

Conclusion

Essential oils are much stronger than extracts or the fresh herbs themselves. Essential oil of jojoba is especially potent. Be sure to test a small patch of skin before using to make sure there are no adverse reactions.

Some people find Jojoba Oil works better when with other essential oils, such as almond oil, grape seed oil, castor oil, and evening primrose oil. If Jojoba Oil alone doesn’t do much for you, try mixing it with other essential oils.
